Gavel
Gavel is MindBridge's legal technology platform, designed to support legal professionals, law firms, businesses and individuals through digital legal services, document processes, matter management and access to legal information.
Current status: Pilot · In pilot use with a law firm in Uganda.
What Gavel addresses
Much legal work still runs on paper files, diaries, spreadsheets and long message threads. Deadlines are tracked by memory, documents move between people without a clear record of who reviewed them, and clients often have to chase their advocate to learn where their matter stands.
Who it is for
Legal professionals and law firms, and, as the platform develops, the businesses and individuals they serve.
What Gavel does today
- Matter managementOpen matters through a guided intake with a conflict check, and keep the court, stage and legal team on each matter.
- Client records and portalKeep client records and give clients a private portal to follow their own matters, read documents released to them, see invoices and message their legal team.
- Documents and reviewDraft or upload documents and take them through a review path, from draft to filed, with each document marked privileged, internal or client-approved.
- Court diary and deadlinesRecord hearings with preparation checklists and track deadlines, with notifications to the person responsible.
- Tasks and timeAssign work with clear authority levels, track progress and record time against matters.
- BillingPrepare invoices from recorded time, with partner approval before issue, and record payments in Uganda Shillings.
- Role-based accessEach person sees what their role allows, and partner-only decisions are enforced by the system.
